On the night of 10 September, three unidentified men beat up Metropolitan Kliment of Crimea and Simferopol, who had come to Kyiv to participate in the Crimea Platform summit, near St. Michael’s Monastery.
According to Metropolitan Kliment himself, the attack occurred around 11p.m., when he was on his way to his cell in St Michael’s Monastery.
Three unidentified men stopped him, addressing the clergyman with the words, ‘Vladyka, bless me.’ However, after that they started beating the metropolitan.
Kliment believes that the attack was planned, as it took place in a place where there are no surveillance cameras.
In addition to serving in the church, Kliment is also a member of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As noted in a statement by the National Police of Ukraine, law enforcers are establishing the circumstances of the attack on the church representative, who is also a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
