On Wednesday, June 14, a meeting of representatives of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people with the parliamentary delegation of the Czech Republic took place in the office of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic: Chairman – Pavel Fischer, Deputy Chairman of the Committee Miroslav Balatka, Member of the Committee Vaclav Laska, Member of the Committee Marek Oshtyadal, Member of the Committee Jan Sobotka and Deputy Chairman of the Senate Tomas Czernin , as well as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Ukraine Radek Matula, Deputy Ambassador Jiří Preclik, Second Secretary Jan Hudoba and Third Secretary Jakub Lewandowski.
From the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, the meeting was attended by Mustafa Dzhemilev – leader of the Crimean Tatar people, MP of Ukraine, Eskender Bariiev – Head of the Department for Legal and Foreign Affairs of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, Riza Shevkiiev – member of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, General Director of the Charitable Foundation “Fund Crimea” .
During the meeting, the representatives of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people thanked the people of the Czech Republic for supporting Ukraine in the fight against the global terrorist Russia, as well as for their active participation in the Crimean Platform.
The parliamentary delegation was informed about the trends in human rights violations in the occupied Crimea and war crimes in the newly occupied territories of southern Ukraine.
For their part, the deputies informed that a law similar to the Magnitsky Act was adopted in the Czech Republic, therefore, in the near future, Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and the Crimean Tatar Resource Center will provide lists of persons violating human rights in the occupied Crimea, with documents confirming their crimes.
Also, the parliamentary delegation was given a package of documents with an appeal to the Senate of the Czech Republic on recognizing the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people as an act of genocide, and the occupation of Crimea since 2014 as its continuation.
The interlocutors discussed the possibility of allocating scholarships to study in the universities of the Czech Republic for representatives of the Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian youth from the occupied Crimea.
