On Friday, March 31, in the office of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, a meeting was held with Vitalii Bezhin, MP of Ukraine, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Subcommittee on the Administrative-Territorial Structure of Ukraine and Local Self-Government.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov and the Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, the head of the Department for Legal Affairs and Foreign Affairs of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev.
During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the process of returning historical names to the peninsula, getting rid of communist and imperialist narratives, which becomes even more real with the adoption of bill #7253.
“We believe and are waiting for the signing by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and are working together to implement the laws of Ukraine, which will allow us to restore historical justice already during 2023”,- said Eskender Bariiev.
