Eskender Bariiev, the Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre, member of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, spoke in an interview with FREEDOM TV channel about Crimea’s resistance since 2014.
“Many activists, representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people, have shown their resistance in different ways. These include mass actions and demonstrations that took place in 2014. This includes assisting military units, creating human chains,” he said.
After the start of the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, such movements as the Yellow Ribbon have already appeared. The guerrilla movement has become more active.
“The guerrilla movement has become more active because the Ukrainian special services in the peninsula are already starting to work systematically in order to involve more professionals in this process,” Bariiev said.
The expert stressed that it is necessary to clearly distinguish between civil resistance and guerrilla resistance.
“Civil resistance is non-violent resistance. However, guerrilla resistance is, in particular, various diversions in the occupied territories in order to establish the integrity of the state,” he explained.
