Eskender Bariiev, the Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre, member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, said in an interview with the Hromadske Radio, that eviction of Russians who have settled in Crimea since its occupation must proceed, but only in a humane and civilized manner.
“A special register should be made to identify everyone who is in Crimea. Then a system should be developed to allow Russians to leave the liberated Crimea. This is a proposal at this stage, but everything should be done exclusively in a civilized way, according to the norms of international law,” Bariiev said.
As reported earlier, during the strategic forum The Future of Crimea held in early March, the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre, together with experts, published its developments consisting of ten directions. In particular, these are the rights of indigenous peoples, migration policy, social and humanitarian policy, etc.
“The CTRC has been working on the de-occupation of Crimea since its establishment, publishing a methodology for applying personal sanctions against those who have supported and collaborated with the occupying authorities… This refers to different categories of citizens. We have defined the degree of collaboration from our side, because every person living in the occupied territory can be called a collaborator. When we talk about the highest degree, i.e. crimes, we have to understand that after the liberation of Crimea we will be facing many problems. Consequently, we need to improve the criminal legislation,” Bariiev said.
