Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, Head of the Department of Legal and Foreign Affairs of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev commented on the mining of schools in the occupied Crimea in an interview with QIRIM.News. In his opinion, there are two versions of the reasons for such actions.

“There is a escalation of the situation around the topic of Ukraine. Today, 121 people are in places of captivity, most of whom are being persecuted by Russia under terrorist articles or under articles of sabotage. And these are citizens of Ukraine who have never in their lives had anything to do with terrorism or sabotage”,- he explained.

Bariiev added that against the backdrop of political prisoners who are in places of captivity and are accused precisely of terrorist articles and sabotage, against the background of the fact that today the Russian Federation has accumulated weapons on the border with Ukraine, against the background of the fact that quite recently such a provocation was carried out in Ukraine to to see the readiness of the Ukrainian special services for such actions, a certain information background is created in order to further justify their aggressive actions towards Ukraine.

The second version is related to the coronavirus pandemic. Indeed, today in the Crimea there is a very difficult epidemiological situation, there is a sharp increase in the incidence of coronavirus.

“Under the guise of such mining, almost all schools in the occupied Crimea are sent to distance learning. That is, in this way, they are trying to justify that the action of the Sputnik is strong enough, effective. And they are sent to distance learning not because of Covid, but because of the threat of terrorist acts”,- said Bariiev.
