Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, head of the Department of Legal Affairs and Foreign Affairs of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev in an interview with the Black Sea TV and Radio Company, commenting on the demolition of the house of a veteran of the Crimean Tatar national movement Rustem Useinov, said that the Ukrainian authorities need to legalize all self-returns in Crimea.

“Here it would be important for us to protect these people. To show that Ukraine worries and cares about its people in order to at least have the opportunity for these people to challenge the actions in international courts”,- he stressed.

According to Bariiev, this whole problem has been going on since Ukrainian times. After all, when the Crimean Tatars returned to their homeland, there were difficulties in obtaining land plots.

“I have repeatedly stated that the Ukrainian authorities need to legalize all self-returns and the houses located on them. Yes, the Ukrainian government does not control the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, but it can give its citizens the right and opportunity to protect their land and their property in international courts”,- the expert emphasized.
