The manager of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center Liudmyla Korotkykh in an interview with the UA: Crimea media agency commented on the report of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on the human rights situation in Ukraine. The expert noted that the report reflects a very limited number of offenses that occurred in the occupied Crimea.
“Of course, this is a very important report. This is very important in the context of international documentation of events and human rights violations in the occupied Crimea. Given the methodology used by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, they could not include all the cases recorded by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center. And, unfortunately, a very limited number of offenses are reflected in this report”,- Korotkykh said.
The expert emphasized that the report does not even contain a section dedicated to The Right to Life, when a citizen of Uzbekistan was allegedly killed in the territory of the occupied Crimea in May during a so-called search.
“The Crimean Tatar Resource Center makes monthly analysis of human rights violations in the occupied Crimea: there are quarterly, semi-annual, 9-month and annual analysis. All these materials are sent to the UN Monitoring Mission. This communication is there. We are now preparing our recommendations for this report, which we will later send to OHCHR”,- she added.
