Head of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, head of the Department for Legal Affairs and Foreign Affairs of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Eskender Bariiev, in an interview with TV Channel 4, noted the prospects of the PACE summer session for Ukraine. He stressed that in order to get the result – the adoption of a resolution on the violation of the rights of the Crimean Tatars in the occupied Crimea – active and serious behind-the-scenes work is needed.
“We must clearly understand that in order to get a result, active and serious behind-the-scenes work is needed. For our part, we tried to provide maximum information for the Ukrainian delegation to PACE. These are various booklets about political prisoners, as well as other handouts that will help better to inform the MPs about the real situation in Crimea”,- Bariiev said.
The head of the CTRC board stressed that the level of inter-parliamentary interaction is very important.
“It is important that MPs of other countries understand the problems in the occupied Crimea and take an active part in protecting the rights of the inhabitants of the peninsula and directly in the de-occupation of Crimea. Our task is to have more supporters. For this we must unite the efforts of all sectors: human rights organizations and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar the people, and the deputy corps, and the executive branch”,- he explained.
