On Wednesday, February 24, the German Society for East European Studies, the Society for the Defense of Oppressed Peoples, Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Ukraine and the Crimean Tatar Resource Center in an online format held a panel discussion on the topic: Crimea – the current situation with human rights in Crimea. The speakers informed the German and Ukrainian communities about the current human rights situation in the occupied Crimea and about the repressions against the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.
The discussion was attended by:
– Emine Dzheppar – First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine;
– Refat Chubarov – Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people;
– Eskender Bariiev – Head of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, head of the Department of Legal Affairs and Foreign Affairs of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People;
– Dr. Miste Hotopp-Rike – Head of the Institute for Caucasian, Tatar and Turkestan Studies.
The moderator was Gabriele Freitag, Administrator of the German Association for Eastern European Studies.
