Koran confiscated from political prisoner Ruslan Mesutov

May 1, 2023

Ruslan Mesutov, after being transferred to a prison in the Lipetsk region, had his Koran confiscated. His lawyer Volodymyr Bilenko told about this to the Crimean Solidarity.

“A Koran in Arabic was taken away from Mesutov, so that a specialist could look at it, that this is a normal Koran, and not extremist. Since then, since November, he has not been able to get it back, it greatly suppresses him”,- said Volodymyr Bilenko.

We remind you that on June 10, 2019, Russian security forces conducted mass searches in the homes of Crimean Tatars in Alushta, Bilohirsk and Simferopol. As a result, 8 people were detained on suspicion of involvement in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization banned in the Russian Federation. On June 10 and 11, the Kyiv District Court of Simferopol chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention of Crimean Tatars detained after searches – Riza Omerov, Enver Omerov, Ayder Dzhepparov, Eskender Suleymanov, Ruslan Nagaev, Eldar Kantimirov. Subsequently, all the defendants in the so-called case were repeatedly extended the term of arrest.
