Khalil Mambetov was transferred to another pre-trial detention center despite arthrosis

May 25, 2023

Khalil Mambetov, a 68-year-old defendant in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case, was transferred to a new pre-trial detention center despite progressive arthrosis. His wife Lilia Mambetova told about this to Crimean Solidarity.

“He was pale and tired. Legs hurt badly. Bumps from arthrosis are visible on his hands, he cannot show me his legs, but he said that it hurts to step on. He had arthrosis even before his arrest. At home they tried to drink medicines, it helped. And now it’s impossible. They sent him several drugs, but they didn’t give them to him”,- the political prisoner’s wife said.

During the translation, Mambetov lost his glasses and the Koran, and during a meeting with his wife he was forbidden to speak the Crimean Tatar language.

“They said you can only communicate in Russian. And don’t ask about anything, nothing extra. I lost the Koran during the move, I lost my glasses. Now everything is asking for it in a new way, whether they will give it back or not – we don’t know yet. I know that it is very difficult and the conditions there are very harsh. They don’t even allow you to sit on the bed so that the bed is not wrinkled”,-she said.

Recall that on January 24, 2023, the invaders arrested Ekrem Krosh, Aider Asanov, Refat Seidametov, Osman Abdurazakov, Leman Zekiriaiev, Khalil Mambetov.
