Jamala’s album QIRIM was recognized as one of the best of 2023

The album of the Crimean Tatar singer Jamala QIRIM was recognized as one of the best for 2023 according to Beehype magazine.

“For many years, Jamala has carefully unearthed these songs from the cities and towns of the Crimean Peninsula, breathing new life into previously unknown, rewritten or forgotten melodies. In collaboration with more than 80 traditional musicians and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, Jamala presents QIRIM as an in-depth exploration of Crimean Tatar musical traditions”,- the publication said.

The magazine also noted that the album’s songs are already being played on radio stations in countries such as the Czech Republic, Turkey, Georgia, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Jordan, Greece, Latin America, Germany, the USA, Canada and Japan, as well as on radio stations in many others countries of the world.

In addition, QIRIM was included in the list of nominees for the prestigious Shevchenko Prize.
