International support for Ukraine on the 11th anniversary of resistance to the occupation of Crimea

March 1, 2025
On February 26, 2025 Ukraine celebrated the 11th anniversary of resistance to the occupation of Crimea. International partners actively commented on this important event and expressed support for our country in the struggle to restore its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

CTRC has collected several important quotes reflecting the position of our international partners:

“During the occupation, Russia regularly carried out arbitrary detentions of Crimeans, including 13 people under the #DefendingFreedoms project. All those unjustly detained must be immediately and unconditionally released,” – Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission.

“The Trump administration should raise with its Russian counterparts the barbaric treatment of Crimean Tatar Muslims, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Protestants, and Orthodox Christians in Russia-occupied Ukraine and seek accountability for religious freedom violations,” – Commissioner Vicki Gartzler of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.

“Coffee is a symbol of Crimea and Crimean Tatars. It is an important ritual for Crimean families and communities. On February 26, 2025, Ukraine marks the 11th anniversary of the counter-occupation of Crimea and the beginning of the war Russia is waging against Ukraine. Crimea is Ukraine,” – Ms. Natalia Tsmots, Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine.

“ There are 218 Crimean political prisoners (including 132 Crimean Tatars) who have been imprisoned illegally and on false charges by Russia, which has been occupying the Crimean peninsula for 11 years. The situation in the occupied territories is characterized by constant and systematic violations of basic human rights,” the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ukraine said.

“The priority of the Ukrainian state is the de-occupation of Crimea, restoration of territorial integrity and sovereignty, which is the basis for a sustainable and just peace. An important international mechanism on this path is the Crimean Platform, one of the key partners of which is the Republic of Turkey,” – the Turkish Embassy noted.

“Germany condemns the illegal occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol by Russia. We strongly support the sovereignty, independence and internationally recognized borders of Ukraine. We stand unwaveringly by Ukraine’s side: with a total of almost 44 billion euros since 2022, Germany is Europe’s largest donor of support for Ukraine, both in the military and civilian spheres,” the German Embassy in Ukraine noted.

Now, more than ever, Ukraine needs international support. Together we will overcome evil. The Crimean Tatar Resource Center once again reminds that peace negotiations on Ukraine without taking into account the position of indigenous peoples are impossible!

Crimea will definitely return under Ukrainian control. Therefore, it is important that all citizens of Ukraine unite and our international partners act. After all, Russian aggression can spread further, and only together we can prevent it!

Crimea is Ukraine!
