In the first half of 2024, 167 cases of violation of the right to a fair trial were recorded, 55 – in relation to Crimean Tatars. For the same period in 2023, 156 were recorded (103 against Crimean Tatars), and in 2022, 166 (137 against Crimean Tatars).
During the reporting period, in addition to the extension of arrests, sentences and new arrests, systemic rejections of appeal complaints of lawyers, as well as the issuance of fines continued to be record.
We would like to remind that the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre presented the Analysis of Human Rights Violations in the Occupied Crimea for the first half of 2024. According to the organisation, 51 searches, 71 arrests/detentions and 63 cases of interrogations, interviews and ‘conversations’ were recorded during the reporting period. The total number of arrests for the first half of 2024 is 92.
