In Crimea, sentenced for participation in the Noman Çelebicihan Crimean Tatar Volunteer Battalion

The Kyiv district court of Akmesdzhit (Simferopol) sentenced in absentia a resident of Yevpatoriia to 9 years in prison for participating in the Crimean Tatar battalion named after. Noman Chelebidzhikhan. This was reported by the press service of the FSB.

The occupants claim that in January 2016 the man left Crimea and voluntarily joined the battalion.

A criminal case was initiated against the man under part 2 of Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of Russia (participation in an armed formation not provided for by federal law).

The court found him guilty and sentenced him in absentia to 9 years in prison with a term in a penal colony with a strict regime and restriction of freedom for 1 year.

Recall that since 2014, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center has recorded 28 detentions on charges of participation in the Noman Çelebicihan Crimean Tatar Volunteer Battalion: 12 in the occupied Crimea, 16 in the occupied Kherson region after February 24, 2022.
