On August 29, Hennadiy Lemeshko was transferred to the SUS on charges of recruiting Russian citizens for the war on the side of Ukraine. The captive’s wife, Irina, informed the Association about this.

The details and evidence of the accusation are unknown.

“It was a shock for us. For all the time, Hennadiy only once got into the detention chamber for allegedly not making the bed. He tries to be extremely careful in his statements regarding the war and, of course, there can be no question of any recruitment”,- says Irina.

We remind you that on August 12, 2017, the FSB of Russia announced the detention of a man in the annexed Crimea, whom they called an SBU agent and accused of preparing sabotage on the peninsula. Later, the Russian special services released a video of the man’s detention and interrogation. On camera, he called himself Hennadiy Lemeshko, born in 1992, and admitted that he allegedly prepared sabotage on the territory of the annexed Crimea. The Security Service of Ukraine denied the involvement of the detainee in the state security agencies. On May 10, 2018, the Sudak city court found Hennadiy Lemeshko guilty of illegal acquisition, storage and carrying of explosives and sentenced him to 8 years in prison. A Ukrainian is serving a term of punishment in colony 6 of the Dydymkin farm in the Stavropol Territory of the Russian Federation.
