From 12 to 17 years old: defendants in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case were sentenced

May 31, 2023

The occupants continue their repressions. On Wednesday, May 31, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don announced the verdict of the defendants in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case: Dzhebbar Bekirov, Rustem Tairov, Rustem Murasov and Zavur Abdullaiev.

The occupiers sentenced:

Dzhebbar Bekirov to 17 years in prison in a strict regime colony with the first four years in prison and 1.5 years of probation after his release

Rustem Tairov, Rustem Murasov and Zavur Abdullaiev to 12 years in colony with the first four years in prison and a year of probation after their release

It should be noted that the accusations in this case are based on the testimony of hidden witnesses and the conclusion of so-called experts who actively cooperate with the Russian security forces. The case was considered in gross violation of international law.

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center strongly protests and states that this decision is illegal, politically motivated and criminal. Such a policy of the Russian Federation is a demonstration of the struggle against the political convictions of the citizens of the occupied Crimea.

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center demands the sentences of the defendants in the case to be canceled and that other political prisoners be released immediately.
