On October 7,  Ayder Komurdzhi, a former restorer of the Khan’s Palace, a Crimean Tatar, died in   the occupied Crimea at the age of 86. He was also one of the first people to return to his native Crimea after the deportation. This was reported by human rights activist and wife of Crimean political prisoner Seyran Saliiev Mumine Salieva on her Facebook page.

“In the 90s,  Ayder Komurdzhi   worked as a restorer in the Khan’s Palace. He was one of the first to return to Crimea with his family in 1968. He managed to register on the land of his ancestors, despite all the obstacles of the authorities,” – Mumine said.

She also added that for 20 years Ayder-aga lived in the village of Arma-Eli (Batalne). But his goal was to return to Bakhchysaray, where his whole family came from and where Ayder-grandgather himself was born. He was able to return to the capital of the khans in 1988.

In the photo, his grandchildren are next to him, who are currently arrested and held in jail on terrorism charges.
