February 26 is the Day of Resistance to the Russian Occupation of Crimea

February 26, 2025

On February 26, 2014, more than 15 thousand Crimean residents expressed their support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine. 11 years ago, on the initiative of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, a large-scale rally was held in Akmesdzhit (Simferopol), during which Crimean Tatars, Ukrainians and pro-Ukrainian residents of the peninsula opposed the “ annexation” of Crimea to the Russian Federation.

On that day, the Crimean civil society peacefully defended their state, not allowing Kremlin agents to hold an illegal “session” and fabricate the so-called “voluntary transition” of the peninsula to Russia. However, even the powerful non-violent resistance could not stop the temporary occupation, which has been going on for 11 years.

Crimea is a territory of repression and disenfranchisement!

According to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, during the occupation of Crimea:

– 387 people have become political prisoners and prosecuted in criminal cases, 238 of them are representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.

– There are 60 known cases of killed people, 28 of whom are Crimean Tatars.

– 24 people went missing, 18 of them are representatives of the Crimean Tatar people.

– Thousands of administrative “cases” have been opened against the pro-Ukrainian population.

– Tens of thousands of Ukrainians have been forced to leave the peninsula due to persecution, repression, and illegal conscription into the Russian army since February 24, 2022.Nothing finished with the occupation of Crimea…

3 years of full-scale war have passed – the struggle continues!

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion, bringing grief and destruction across Ukraine. For 11 years now, our people have been fighting the invader. But today, as in 2014, we are not retreating.

Every Ukrainian is making every effort to win. The resistance begins with each of us!

Crimea is Ukraine!

We fought then, we are fighting now – and we will definitely win!
