August 30 is the International Day for the Victims of Enforced Disappearances.
After the occupation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, disappearances and kidnappings became a regular practice. According to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, during the period of occupation, 21 people are considered missing, about whom there is no information, 15 of them are representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.
According to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, in total, during the period of occupation, 21 people are considered missing without any information about their whereabouts: Abduramanov Rizvan, Alyautdinov Marsel, Apselyamov Eskender, Arsen Suyunov , Aripov Shevket, Bondarets Ivan, Vaschuk Valery, Kaplienko Maksim, Kostenko Fedir , Katerina Klapova, Vasyl Chernysh, Marlen Shevketov, Arsen Aliiev, Mukhtar Arislanov, Ruslan Ganiev, Islyam Dzhepparov, Seyran Zinedinov, Ervin Ibragimov, Dzhevdet Islyamov, Arlen Terekhov and Timur Shaimardanov.
Unfortunately, the de facto Crimean authorities controlled by the Kremlin create only the appearance of investigating these cases, despite the fact that, according to the UN General Assembly Resolution A / RES / 71 / 205, Russia is called an occupying state and is responsible for observing human rights in this territory .
Employees and experts of the CTRC have repeatedly informed the international community about these facts of human rights violations at the international platforms of the UN, OSCE, PACE. We condemn the arrests, detentions and kidnappings used in Crimea as a way to pressure and intimidate the indigenous Crimean Tatar people and pro-Ukrainian activists.
You can read more about the killed people in the occupied Crimea in our booklet.
Recall that on July 28, 2016, the opening of the exposition Missing and killed people during the occupation of Crimea by the Russian Federation was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, which was organized by the CTRC.
