Famous historian and writer Oleksa Haivoronskyy died in Crimea

The famous historian and talented writer Oleksa Haivoronskyy died in Crimea after a long illness.

The man made a huge contribution to the history of the entire Crimean Tatar people. He shared his knowledge in articles for Radio Liberty, television programs for the ATR channel (Walking in Crimea with Oleksa Haivoronskyy) and publications for the Crimean Tatars publication. 

In 2010, his two-volume book Lords of Two Continents was published, which describes the events of the creation and formation of the Crimean Khanate. In 2016, he presented the book The Country of Crimea,” in which he masterfully described a walk through medieval Crimea. After all, the book includes 61 essays about buildings on the peninsula during the Crimean Khanate.

Oleksa Haivoronskyy was the screenwriter of the first Crimean Tatar children’s fairy tale film Khydyr-Dede, researched the biography of Ismail Gasprinsky for the film Translator and Bekir Choban-Zade in the film The Way of the Dzhigit.

Oleksa Haivoronskyy made an invaluable contribution to the development and popularization of the history of the Crimean Tatars.
