Russia has been waging war against us for years. In addition to weapons, it uses information. First of all, it creates fakes. Unfortunately, still many people believe in them. Therefore, today we propose to consider and refute several of them.
FAKE: Crimeans have made their choice
Retraction: This is a classic example of propaganda from Russians who claim that Crimeans voted in favor of «Crimea joining Russia.» In fact, this vote was conducted with gross violations – forceful methods were used, mass falsification. There were no international observers at the so-called referendum, who could have recorded violations. According to Crimean journalists and some residents, ballots were repeatedly issued by the same persons. The forced referendum was not recognized by Ukraine or the entire civilized world.
FAKE: The world recognizes Crimea as Russian territory
Retraction: These are only wishful fantasies of propagandists. In fact, after the occupation of Crimea in 2014, most Western countries opposed such actions by Russia. Moreover, sanctions were imposed against the terrorist state by the United States and the European Union. These actions show as best as possible that the world has not and will not recognize Crimea as Russian.
FAKE: Crimean Tatars support Russia
RETRACTION: Crimean Tatars have been actively opposing the occupation of Crimea, going out on mass protests. According to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, there are 318 political prisoners prosecuted in criminal «cases» during the occupation of Crimea, 216 of whom are the representatives of the Crimean Tatar people. After the full-scale invasion in 2022, more and more Crimean Tatars started to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which certainly shows that Crimean Tatars do NOT support Russia and its actions.
