Russian job search service ‘Superjob’ has found out the attitude of society to the school education system by conducting a survey of economically active residents of Crimea from 9 to 22 September 2024.
Every second Crimean resident criticised secondary education: 49% believe that school education has become worse than 10 years ago.
‘The methods are incomplete and give cut material’, “And every year it gets worse”, – noted the interviewees.
12% of Crimean residents note that modern school education has remained at the same level as 10 years ago. 6 out of 10 Crimean residents are sure that modern school education does not provide a sufficient number of useful practical skills and abilities to graduates. Men say this more often than women. 17% of residents are more optimistic, in their opinion, school education contributes to the development of practical skills in pupils.
The critical attitude of the residents of occupied Crimea towards the quality of school education is largely related to the changes in the curriculum introduced by the Russian Federation. The rewriting of history, the presence of propaganda narratives in textbooks and the teaching of material with political emphasis significantly affect the perception of education by the local population. Such changes not only reduce the level of education, but also form a distorted view of historical events, culture and international relations among schoolchildren.
We would like to remind you that the occupation of Crimea has already lasted almost 10 years. During this time, a whole generation of children has grown up. Those who were 7-8 years old when the occupation of the peninsula began are now 15-16 years old. And all these children have already become victims of education with fake historiography. They are simply forced to grow up in other realities, where Crimea is presented as Russian.
If the occupation of Crimea drags on for 15 years or more, Russian propaganda and fake historiography will completely erase the presence of indigenous peoples and the Ukrainian spirit from the peninsula. The occupiers are trying to do the same with the newly occupied territories.
We must hurry to return the Ukrainian territories while Ukraine is still remembered and welcomed there.
