In early March, political prisoner, citizen of Ukraine Mykola Shyptur ended his illegal 9-year term behind bars, but the occupiers did not release him, but transported him to the Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Citizens in the Rostov region.
Prior to his arrest, Mykola Shyptur lived in Ivano-Frankivsk and was illegally detained by accomplices of the occupants on March 9, 2014 in the city of Sevastopol for participating in an event dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko.
According to reliable sources, Mykola Shyptur received an administrative fine for disobedience after being placed in the Center for Temporary Detention of Foreign Citizens, and now his movement around the Center is limited.
We remind you that at the beginning of February 2023, the illegal 6.5-year term of stay behind bars of another political prisoner, Andrii Zakhtey, ended. 4 days of administrative arrest for disobedience.
According to available information, the administration of the Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Citizens plans to deport Ukrainian citizens Mykola Shyptur and Andriy Zakhtey at the same time, but the State Migration Service refused to issue documents for Zakhtey to return to Ukraine, so the timing of the return of political prisoners Shyptur and Zakhtei to the controlled territory of Ukraine is still unknown.
At the same time, the administration of the Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Citizens is doing everything to provoke citizens of Ukraine into disobedience and, on this basis, worsen their conditions of stay in the Center.
The Crimean Tatar Resource Center systematically and constantly monitors the fate of Ukrainian political prisoners and is concerned about the passive position of Ukrainian state bodies, which does not meet the interests of Ukrainian citizens and can harm the lives and health of political prisoners. We hope that appropriate steps will be taken in the near future for the speedy return to the controlled territory of Ukraine of political prisoners who have served their illegal terms.
