On Friday, April 7, the Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev took part in the iftar dinner, which is held during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
The event, which took place on the territory of the Crimean Tatar cultural center Birlik in the Kyiv region, was joined by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian Muslim soldiers, leaders of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and representatives of the Muslim clergy.
As Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted, from this day on we are starting the iftar tradition at the official level and by this we affirm that Ukraine values every community.
We remind you that Ramadan is a period of obligatory fasting for Muslims, which lasts 29-30 days. There are also rules of conduct that should be followed during fasting. It is forbidden:
– ignore holding an oraza (if it is impossible to observe a fast due to temporary circumstances, it must be held within a year);
– to swear and lie;
– drink and eat between suhoor (morning meals) and iftar (evening meals). Before sunrise, they eat food and various sweets to gain strength for the whole day, and in the evening, after a glass of water with dates, hot dishes are served.
During Ramadan, charitable activities are highly encouraged and are even considered an important part of Ramadan. In addition, holding suhoors and iftars allows loved ones to spend more time together and share things that are important to them.
