Lawyer Emil Kurbedinov, who was detained by the occupiers on February 15, provided a comment regarding his arrest.
According to him, the police informed him that an administrative case had been opened against him for dissemination of fake news about socially significant information, resulting in a threat to the safety of citizens. In addition, he called his detention another attempt by Russian special services to put pressure on lawyers in Crimea.
“I know very well why this case was brought against me in retaliation”,- the lawyer explained, promising to reveal the details later.
Since this case does not provide for administrative arrest, Kurbedinov will wait for the materials to be transferred to the magistrate’s court.

On February 15, 2024, lawyer Emil Kurbedinov was detained near the FSB building in the occupied Crimea. The lawyer’s wife, Diana Kurbedinova, testified that he was taken away by security forces when he was leaving after investigative measures. It is known that Kurbedinov was released and a report was drawn up against him under Part 9, Art. 13.15 Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (Abuse of freedom of mass information). It turned out that the lawyer was detained for a comment on Telegram written on July 14, 2023.
