According to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, during the period of the occupation of Crimea, 277 political prisoners and those prosecuted in criminal cases were recorded, 196 were representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people. According to the CTRC, the number of political prisoners and persecuted by the occupying authorities is 277 people, 196 of them are representatives of the Crimean Tatar people. This category consists of 5 components depending on the status of the persecuted:
– sentenced and serve terms in colonies (116, 85 – Crimean Tatars);
– have restrictions or on probation (30, 19 – Crimean Tatars);
– in detention facilities (50, 34 – Crimean Tatars);
– released (49, 31 – Crimean Tatars);
– persecuted (32, 26 – Crimean Tatars).
According to the CTRC, today there are 58 killed during the occupation of Crimea, 27 of which are representatives of the Crimean Tatar people. This category consists of the following components:
– Victims of political repressions (2 – Crimean Tatars);
— Victims of discrimination (13, 1 Crimean Tatar);
– Victims of terror (30, 8 – Crimean Tatars);
– Victims of police abuse (13, 6 – Crimean Tatars).
The third category of the electronic database of the CTRC displays the actual number of victims of enforced disappearances during the period of occupation of Crimea. In total, according to the organization, there are 21 such people, 15 of them are representatives of the Crimean Tatar people. This category is divided into those who are put on the wanted list (9 people, all of them are Crimean Tatars) and those who are not put on the wanted list (12 people, 6 are Crimean Tatars).
