The defendant in the second Simferopol Hizb ut-Tahrir case, Dzhemil Gafarov, who died on February 10 in the pre-trial detention center of Novocherkassk, complained of pain back in mid-January, but the answer came from pre-trial detention center 5 in Rostov-on-Don, where the Crimean Tatar was staying in January, lawyer only on the day of Gafarov’s death. It is reported by the Crimean Solidarity.
It is noted that back in January, Dzhemil Gafarov complained to the defender and family: every day he was getting worse. He constantly felt burning bain in the region of his heart, his head hurt, it was hard to breathe, and he himself could no longer get up. The political prisoner had a disability confirmed by medical documents. He suffered from heart and kidney problems.
“Lawyer Edem Semedliaiev tried to get to Gafarov in a pre-trial detention center, but received a response to a request from the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia only today, February 10, on the day when Gafarov had already died. At the same time, the letter from the head of pre-trial detention center 5 Pavel Lazarenko is dated February 2. It says that Semedliaiev’s request was considered within the established time frame, and Dzhemil Gafarov is under the dynamic supervision of the health center of the medical unit 3 at the Federal Penitentiary Service”,- the message says.
Recall that for almost 4 years Russian occupiers kept 60-year-old Dzhemil Gafarov in the dungeons of the FSB, and in January 2023 he was criminally sentenced to 13 years in prison in a colony.
