Defendants in the second Sevastopol Hizb ut-Tahrir case had their arrest term extended for three months

April 12, 2023

On April 10, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don granted the request of the Russian prosecutor to extend the arrest of Rustem Tairov, Zavur Abdullaiev, Dzhebbar Bekirov and Rustem Murasov. It is reported by the Crimean solidarity.

The defense asked for a change in the preventive measure to house arrest, since, according to lawyer Taras Omelchenko, the practice of the Southern District Military Court suggests that Crimean prisoners do not run away from court and investigation on this charge. This was confirmed by the political prisoners themselves in full.

“Of course, the judge agreed with the prosecutor’s request, they extended the measure of restraint. But the guys are holding on well, smiling. Everyone is congratulated on Ramadan, they fast, do not lose heart. I calmed down when I saw my husband in a cheerful state of mind”,- said Emine, the wife of Zavur Abdullaiev.

We remind you that on August 17, 2021, Russian security forces came to the homes of five Crimean Tatars: Dzhebbar Bekirov, Zaur Abdullaiev, Rustem Tairov, Raif Fevziiev and Rustem Murasov. All activists were detained. All were placed in jail.
