August 13, 2024

On Monday, 12 August, the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Ukraine started the ‘Freedom Camp’, which takes place in Transcarpathia!

People from different parts of Ukraine take part in the event, which will last until 18 August. During the camp, participants will learn more about the occupation of Crimea and human rights violations on the peninsula, the role of non-violence in gaining freedom and creating democracy, the strategy of activism, the role of visual language and design in international information campaigns, and more.

Film screenings about the occupation of Crimea, the indigenous peoples of Ukraine and their struggle for the right to live in their homeland are also planned. Seminars and lectures will be alternated with role-playing games and various sports.

Eskender Bariiev, Chairman of the CTRC Board, member of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Iryna Starovytska, Project Manager of the  Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Ukraine, and Zarema Bariieva, CTRC Manager, started the event with welcoming words.

According to Eskender Bariiev, one of the organisers of the event, the combination of lectures, group work, role-playing games, sports activities and recreation in the mountains is an effective mechanism for the formation of new creative ideas.

We hope that the participants of this year’s “Freedom Camp” will have a good time and contribute to the deoccupation of Crimea and the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

The Summer ‘Freedom Camp’ is organised with the support  of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Ukraine.
