CTRC congratulates all Muslims on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan

March 11, 2024

Today, March 10, the month of fasting Ramadan begins after sunset.

The staff of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center sincerely congratulates all Muslims on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. This holiday is one of the greatest, because it is associated with the creation of the Quran.

Ramadan is a period of obligatory fasting for Muslims that lasts 29-30 days, which is also called “oraza” among Turkic peoples. There are also rules of behavior that should be followed during the fast. You should not:

  • Ignore the oraza (if it is impossible to observe the fast due to temporary circumstances, it must be observed throughout the year)
  • swear and lie;
  • drink and eat between suhoor (morning meal) and ifrat (evening meal). Before sunrise, people eat food and various sweets to gain strength for the whole day, and in the evening, after a glass of water with a date, hot meals are served.

During Ramadan, charitable activities are highly encouraged and even considered an important part of Ramadan. In addition, holding suhoor and ifrat allows close people to spend more time together and share things that are important to them.

The main idea of the event is reflected in the name: the word “Ramadan” means “to burn” because during the 30 days all sins seem to “burn”. Muslims believe that when a person gives up everyday needs for a certain period of time, it helps to test their commitment to their faith and purifies them spiritually.

Remember that we will definitely win and we will all wake up only under peaceful sky.
