CTRC calls on authorities to impose sanctions on Russian singer Aleksey Chumakov, who visited occupied Crimea

May 6, 2024
On Friday, May 3, Russian singer Aleksey Chumakov visited occupied Crimea in violation of Ukrainian law. He performed at the Crimean Vacations festival under the slogan “10 Facets of Crimea” at the Mriya Resort & SPA hotel in Yalta.
We would like to emphasize that despite the duration of the occupation of Crimea, the illegal nature of visiting the peninsula remains unchanged.

We ask the Security Service of Ukraine to check the information about the illegal visit to the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol by a citizen of the Russian Federation Aleksey Chumakov and, if violations are found, to apply restrictive measures against him.

It is very important to respond to such cases in time, because with these actions such “artists” support fascism, and also become accomplices to crimes against humanity. Each of them must be punished.

We would like to remind that back in 2021 the Crimean Tatar Resource Center prepared and sent letters to the President of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine with a call to apply sanctions to more than two hundred citizens of the Russian Federation, as well as some other states, who conducted concert or other public activities on the territory of the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sebastopol.

And only in 2023, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree that enacts the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on sanctions against Russian ” celebrities”.
