Crimea’s future is positive Ukrainianization!

July 10, 2024
Crimea has been occupied for 10 years now. Of course, during all this time the Russian authorities tried to erase any connection of indigenous peoples and Ukrainians with the peninsula, and in return to impose their culture, language, values, traditions and etc.

It should be understood that after the deoccupation of Crimea we will have a very complex situation and the implementation of Ukrainianization in Crimea should be competent and take into account the interests of all population groups.

The team of the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre stresses the importance of introducing positive Ukrainianization.

And here it should be understood that the residents of the occupied territories should perceive “Ukrainianization” as a set of values, not a threat.

After all, indeed, Ukrainization is NOT chauvinism, NOT an attempt to assimilate other ethnic groups, NOT colonisation, NOT falsification of historiography, NOT Nazism, NOT arbitrariness, NOT violation of human rights, NOT a totalitarian regime, but this:

– Decolonization, de-imperialization and decommunization of territory and narratives in Crimea;

– Formation and promotion of truthful historiography about Crimea and the indigenous peoples;

– Restoration of the Rule of Law in Crimea;

– Protection and realization of the rights of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine;

– Protection of the rights of national minorities in Crimea;

– Introduction of Ukrainian as the state language of Ukraine into all spheres of life as a compulsory language;

– Preservation and development of the language of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine, preservation of the languages of national minorities;

– Restoration of historical justice and protection of Ukraine’s cultural heritage;

– The key to preserving the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Ukraine;

– European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Positive Ukrainization provides for the creation of conditions for mutual understanding and dialogue between different ethnic and cultural groups. And this will help us to create an inclusive and harmonious community in Crimea!

Friends, what do you think about “positive Ukrainization”?
