Sometimes we notice that in the comments under CTRC posts, some of our subscribers call all residents of the Crimean peninsula Krymchaks. We want to explain to you why this is wrong.
First of all, we remind you that the Krymchaks are a separate people who are recognized as indigenous in Ukraine. Yes, the homeland of the Krymchaks is precisely Crimea, but we should not forget that two more indigenous peoples live on the peninsula: the Crimean Tatars and Karaites, as well as Ukrainians and many other wthnicities.
Therefore, if we are talking about all residents of Crimea, then it is correct to call them Crimeans.
The words Krymchak and Crimean are indeed very consonant, but we hope that you understand the difference.
We hope this information is useful to you.
