Crimean teacher detained for Ukrainian flag

A teacher of a university in Akyar (Sevastopol) has been detained for a Ukrainian flag.

According to Russian media, the person involved in the case is Mykola Negruts.

In addition, they state that the detainee was previously prosecuted for “discrediting the russian army” after the start of the full-scale invasion of russia and making “negative caricatures” of the russian president.

On January 19, 2024, the Russian Ministry of Justice added the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, its units and slogans to the list of “Nazi” organizations. In addition to adding the slogans “Glory to Ukraine” and “Glory to Heroes” to the list, they also added a stylized golden trident, the middle element of which is made in the form of a double-edged sword, as well as the flag of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists with red and black horizontal stripes.

The demonstration of symbols of organizations and the use of their slogans is punishable by administrative liability under Article 20.3 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (“Propaganda or public demonstration of Nazi attributes or symbols”), i.e. a fine of up to 2 thousand rubles or arrest for 15 days. For officials, the fine is up to 4 thousand rubles, for legal entities – up to 50 thousand rubles.
