May 6, 2024

The Moscow court considered the investigator’s petition to extend the measure of restraint of Crimean Tatar Leniie Umerova and extended her arrest for 3 months. This was reported by lawyer Olga Dinze to “Suspilne Krim”.

The arrest was extended until August 4, 2024.

The lawyer also noted that Leniie’s health is fine, but the “investigation” in the case is still ongoing.

We will remind that , on December 4, 2022 Russian security forces detained Leniie Umerova after crossing the Georgian-Russian border allegedly for violation of the rules of the regime zone. The girl was traveling from Kyiv to occupied Crimea because of the deteriorating condition of her father.

Until March 16, Leniie was kept in the Center for Temporary Detention of Foreign Citizens near Vladikavkaz. The occupants found the girl guilty of “violation of the state border regime” (part 1 of article 18 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation) and fined her 2 thousand rubles.

On the night of March 16, 2023, Leniie Umerova was released, but she was seized, put a bag on her head, brought to an unfamiliar area of Vladikavkaz and left there. The girl was detained again and a report was drawn up on her for disobedience to police officers. She was sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest. Subsequently, this was repeated three times.

On May 5, 2023, the Lefortovo court in Moscow arrested Crimean Tatar Leniie Umerova for 2 months on suspicion of “high treason” (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
