‘She writes that she will be taken to Moscow for appeal on 12.03.25, and the dispatch is likely to take place on 24.02.25. Changes in the term of serving the sentence are not expected,’ – said Volodymyr.
The father of the political prisoner also told about the conditions of detention of his daughter.
‘She is in a cell with 5-6 women, among whom there are detainees for ‘espionage’, ‘terrorism’ and other politically motivated cases. They are taken out for walks, the cell has water and even a TV,’ -said Voldymyr Horobtsov.
Despite her imprisonment, Iryna also goes jogging to keep fit.
During the period of detention Iryna’s health has changed significantly. First she lost about 20 kilograms in weight, and now she suffers from headaches and a detected aneurysm.
‘She lost about 20 kilograms in weight, she often complains of headaches. She has been found to have an aneurysm of a vessel in her brain, which can lead to haemorrhage, but so far it has not manifested itself. Doctors are called only after persistent statements, so access to medical care is very limited,’ – stressed the father of the political prisoner.
It should be noted that during her imprisonment Iryna read about 150 books not only in Russian and Ukrainian, but also in English. Before her imprisonment, she worked in the IT sphere, has two higher education degrees and speaks several languages. This once again proves the absurdity and political motivation of the charges against her.
Volodymyr Horobtsov also said that his daughter keeps in touch with her family and friends through correspondence. Thanks to the help of acquaintances, she manages to receive parcels, medicines and funds for shopping in the prison shop.
Irina’s family continues to hope for her release as part of a possible exchange of civilian hostages.
We would like to remind that the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre released information about the whereabouts of Iryna Horobtsova on 6 July 2022 after her disappearance on 13 May 2022. For several months, neither her family nor her lawyers could find out about her current whereabouts.
Iryna Horobtsova was sentenced to 10.5 years in prison on charges of ‘espionage’.
The Crimean Tatar Resource Center continues to monitor the situation and calls on the Russian Federation to immediately release political prisoner Iryna Horobtsova!
