The conditions of detention of Crimean political prisoner Bogdan Ziza in a Russian penal colony have seriously damaged his health, and the torture continues. This was reported by his sister, Alexandra Barkova.
“Bogdan has not seen sunlight for a year; he has btained many unexplained symptoms. The torture in the colony continues,” emphasized the sister of the Crimean political prisoner.
Alexandra added that she cannot disclose all the details of his illness, but stressed that medical care in the colony is in fact a form of torture.
“It’s just a torture chamber. When you go to the doctor to have a tooth removed, they either don’t remove it, or they remove it, but not the right one, and without anesthesia. Crimean political prisoners have no choice — they just have to endure the pain,” – Barkova emphasized.
On June 6, 2023, the Southern District Court of Rostov-on-Don sentenced Bogdan Ziza, who was detained in May 2022 in Kezlev (Yevpatoria), on fabricated charges of “terrorism and public calls for terrorist activity using the media and the Internet.” He was sentenced to 15 years in a general regime colony, the first four of which he will spend in prison.
