On Wednesday, September 4, Eskender Bariiev, Chairman of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre, member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, will take part in a panel entitled: ‘Will the world give the Black Sea to Russia?’ within the framework of the 33rd Economic Forum in Poland.
Eskender Bariiev together with other panelists will try to uncover this topic, as well as give recommendations to our strategic partners and answer the key question: What is the key to unblocking the Black Sea?
‘After all, its strategic location linking Eastern Europe with Asia Minor makes it a key region for many countries. Global food security depends on the Black Sea, as well as migrations from some countries in Africa. The temporary occupation of the Crimean peninsula and military aggression against Ukraine eventually destroyed the security system in the Azov-Black Sea region and significantly strengthened russia’s position,’ Bariev explains.
Speakers will turn their attention to what individual states can and should do to ensure long-term peace in the Black Sea region, which for centuries has been an important point on the geopolitical map of Europe and in recent years has again become an arena of international rivalry.
