On Monday, December 18, a member of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, journalist Hayana Yuksel gave a lecture Crimean Tatars: past, present, future, which was organized by the Center for Ukrainian Canadian Studies at the University of Manitoba.
During her speech, Hayana Yuksel spoke about the history of the Crimean Tatar people, about the current situation in the occupied Crimea, namely about the struggle of representatives of the Crimean Tatar national movement against occupation, the return of Crimea to Ukraine and the preservation of the national identity of the Crimean Tatars.
In particular, during the event, a video of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center dedicated to the International Day of Indigenous Peoples, which is celebrated annually on August 9, was shown.
