Arsen Dzhepparov has been held in detention chamber for two months

January 19, 2023

Political prisoner Arsen Dzhepparov has been held in the detention chamber for two months already because of the so-called minor violations: he did not go out to exercise, refused to put his hands behind his back, and the like. It was reported by  the Crimean solidarity.

“The lawyer visited Arsen at our request, since my husband has been in the detention chamber for two months already for so-called minor violations, namely: he didn’t go out to exercise, refused to put his hands behind his back, and the like. The unspoken policy of this colony is that until the moment of release, everyone is serving a long sentence in a detention chamber. Insha Allah, the term ends on April 17”,- said the man’s wife, Zarina Dzhepparova.

The wife said that Arsen’s state of health had deteriorated significantly, but due to the holidays, medical assistance was not provided in a timely manner in full.

We remind you that Arsen Dzhepparov was detained on April 18, 2016. He is accused of participating in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization. He was charged with Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of the activities of a terrorist organization and participation in it) and Art. 278 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Forcible seizure of power or forcible retention of power). On November 12, 2019, the Southern District Military Court convicted the man of imprisonment for a term of 7 years, with restriction of liberty for 1 year.
