Political prisoner Appaz Kurtametov sent a letter in which he described how the first year of his stay in the pre-trial detention center . His mother Aishe reported this via her Facebook page.
In his letters, Kurtametov writes that he reads a lot of literature, but his choice is quite limited due to the conditions of the pre-trial detention center.
In addition, he notes the poor attitude of the pre-trial detention center staff and doctors.
“In this (stage, – ed.) you are introduced to local attractions – always a sensitive and friendly escort, and sometimes not always sympathetic correctional officers (for example, in one of the transit and transfer points, when I approached an employee of the medical unit with a request to give me some medicine for my headache, I received the answer: “the head is a bone, it cannot hurt!)”,- he describes in the letter.
We remind you that Appaz Kurtametov was accused of financing a terrorist organization under Art. 208 part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. According to investigators, he lent 500 hryvnia to his friend, who, as Appaz learned after making a money transfer, serves in the Noman Çelebicihan Crimean Tatar Volunteer Battalion.
On April 21, the Kyiv district court of Sevastopol announced the verdict of political prisoner Appaz Kurtametov. The occupiers sentenced the man to 7 years in prison. On August 30, 2023, the Supreme court of Crimea upheld the sentence of Appaz Kurtametov.
