According to this analysis, it can be argued that all offenses in Crimea carried out by the occupation authorities are of political nature. The dynamics of growth of repressions in Crimea is connected with the activities of the Crimean Tatar national movement or historical dates traditionally celebrated by Crimean Tatars.

Starting from January 2016, experts of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center issue a monthly visual chronicle of events and offenses in Crimea. An analysis of violations in occupied Crimea covering the first half of 2016 was conducted in July this year.

For example, there has been a sharp increase in the number of repressive activities in April and May as a response to the meeting of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars, held in Vilnius on April 11-13 and also May 18 (date of deportation of the Crimean Tatar people from Crimea).

These repressive actions are aimed at intimidating people and preventing them from organizing public events for the purpose of displacing indigenous Crimean Tatar people from Crimea.
