An Indonesian delegation visited Ukraine

December 13, 2023

On Wednesday, December 13, a meeting was held at the Ukraine-Ukrinform Media Center with a delegation from the Republic of Indonesia.

In particular, the meeting was attended by senior member of the Commission on International Relations and International Cooperation of the Indonesian Ulema Council Yanuardi Syukur, Deputy Secretary General of the Indonesian Ulema Council Arif Fakhrudin, expert advisor to the Commission of the First House of Representatives of Indonesia Moses Caesar Assa, head of the Airlanga Center for European and Eurasian studios Radito Dharmaputra, Lecturer at the Department of Communication, University of Pembangunan Jaya, South Tangerang Dr. Algot Putranto, Politics and International Relations Specialist Rakyan Adi Brata, Deputy Chairman of the Board of BAZNAS RI Mohamad Makhdoom and David Yusuf.

The Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, member of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Eskender Bariiev, also joined the conversation. He told those present about the real situation with human rights violations in the occupied Crimea.

“Currently, according to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, 305 political prisoners and those prosecuted in criminal cases during the occupation of Crimea have been recorded, 205 of them are representatives of the Crimean Tatar people. 184 political prisoners are in places of detention, of which 124 are representatives of the Crimean Tatar people”,- he said.

Eskender Bariiev noted that most often Crimean Tatars in occupied Crimea are persecuted for their involvement in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization, the Noman Çelebicihan Crimean Tatar Volunteer Battalion, and also because of the so-called article on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

“The main goal of the Russian Federation is to intimidate representatives of the indigenous people of Ukraine, because it is the Crimean Tatar people who are disloyal to the occupying power of the peninsula and continue to resist”,- he emphasized.

Representatives of the Indonesian delegation were also invited to watch the exclusive documentary film by the CTRC “Give Me Back My Dad!”, which tells the stories of children whose fathers were imprisoned or forcibly abducted after the occupation of Crimea.

“This film tells the stories of only 5 children, and unfortunately, the father of one of the heroines of the film, Dzhemil Gafarov, died in a Russian colony. He was seriously ill and, unfortunately, the sentence of 13 years in prison for far-fetched reasons became fatal for him”,- the expert added.
