Амет Сулейманов не получает надлежащей медицинской помощи

February 8, 2024

Crimean Tatar Amet Suleymanov still does not receive the necessary medical care at the proper level. His wife Lilia Liumanova reported this to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.

“There were no letters from him for a month and a half. He was supposed to have a meeting on December 20 to consider the complaint that we filed with our lawyers about the fact that he was being detained despite his health condition. … On December 20, the trial was postponed because he was taken for examination, for some kind of examination, as the lawyers said”,- Lilia said.

There was no news from the political prisoner for a month and a half: the trial was postponed to January 17, then it was also postponed due to the fact that he was allegedly still in the hospital for more than a month.

“There were no letters, no news. Just last week I received letters from him: he said that he was taken to the hospital at the prison, the Vladimir Central. There he was examined, as he described, they took tests several times, X-rays – they did some kind of examination”,- Lilia explained.

She added that Suleimanov was not given an epicrisis; the doctor remained silent when asked to issue an epicrisis. That is, no one knows whether he was diagnosed and what kind. Suleymanov, his wife and lawyer intend to submit an application so that they will be given the results.

According to his wife, Amet wrote that there was no cardiologist in this hospital. However, one of the available prison doctors, after making sure that the political prisoner was not pretending, gave permission for five necessary medications that Amet Suleymanov takes throughout his life. Before this, they were neither given to him nor allowed to be passed on through relatives for about six months.

“I never thought that the drugs that I have been taking almost all my life would be so difficult for me to achieve this”,- the wife relayed a quote from Suleymanov’s letter.

My wife immediately collected all the approved drugs and sent them.

However, it is known that other drugs that are needed to support the functioning of other organs, or even painkillers, are still prohibited from use. He also had an X-ray of his knee joints because of rheumatism, but the diagnosis was not confirmed and he was not allowed to take bicillin. Mainly because there is no rheumatologist in the hospital either.

The next meeting will take place on February 14.

We remind you that civic journalist Amet Suleymanov was taken into custody on April 6.

On April 26, the necessary medications were taken away from him, despite the fact that doctors prescribed him an operation to replace a heart valve and personally prescribed all the necessary medications.

On August 29, it became known that Suleymanov was transfered to the territory of Russian Federation.
