On Monday, February 27, the FSB announced the arrest of two Sevastopol residents who were allegedly recruited by the Ukrainian special services as pointers at military facilities.

It is noted that two residents of Sevastopol born in 1979 and 1995 initiatively established contact with the Ukrainian special services in order to transfer data for a monetary reward on the location of objects of the Russian Defense Ministry, the leakage of which abroad could damage the state’s defense capability.”

“Man born in 1979 carried out reconnaissance missions of the SSU to collect information about the location of military facilities and transmitted this information via e-mail in compliance with secrecy measures. The second suspect confirmed his intentions of confidential cooperation with the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine in a telephone conversation, but did not have time to transfer the data due to circumstances beyond his control”,- the report says.

The FSB added that the investigative department opened criminal cases under Art. 275.1 Cooperation on a confidential basis with a foreign state and Art. 275 Treason of the Criminal Code of Russia.

Both men have already chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention for two months.
