State of emergency declared in Yalta

June 18, 2021

On Friday, June 18, in the occupied Crimea, in Yalta, a state of emergency was introduced due to heavy rainfall. This was announced by the so-called head of the administration of Yalta, Yanina Pavlenko, on her Facebook page.

"I have to inform you that a state of emergency is being introduced in Yalta. The amount of precipitation that has fallen in 11 hours has exceeded 90 mm. The rivers overflowed their banks, the central part of the city is flooded. We are evacuating people. The most important thing is that the city center is completely blocked. We closed in near October, the entrance to the city, so that there are no traffic jams on the highway, to clear mudflows that descend in different places. We sent equipment there together with the highway and large construction companies to clear the roads",- she said.

Pavlenko stressed that at the moment the entrance to the city is completely closed, as an uncontrolled flow of water blows away cars and people.
