About 4 thousand adopted children are in the occupied territories and in the Russian Federation

The Ukrainian government has published changes made to search for orphans. This was reported by the Ministry for the Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories.

“Now about 4 thousand adopted children find themselves in the temporarily occupied territories or have been deported to the territory of the Russian Federation”,- the statement says.

Guardianship authorities cannot provide control over the living conditions, upbringing and movement of such children. With many families where children were being raised, contact was lost.

“Therefore, the government recently approved changes concerning the powers of heads of district state administrations, as well as executive bodies of local councils. Now they will submit applications to the National Police to search for orphans and children deprived of parental care, who were forcibly moved to the territory of the aggressor state or remained on the TOT, or with whom there is no contact”,- the Ministry reports.

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center believes that the Ukrainian and international communities should join efforts to protect the rights of children affected by the occupation of Crimea and the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in the near future. The Crimean Tatar Resource Center, for its part, will make every effort so that as many people in the world as possible can learn about children who have suffered as a result of Russian crimes.
