A meeting of the Legal Expert Council of the CTRC was held in Kyiv

On Thursday, February 2, in the office of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center a meeting of the Legal Expert Council of the CTRC was held.

During the meeting, the experts discussed the issue related to the registry for documenting war crimes and human rights violations and further mechanisms for its application in practice. Lawyers also worked on updating the questionnaire itself to document war crimes and human rights violations.

Lawyers paid attention to the issue of the Deportation of the Crimean Tatar people in 1944, namely, the situation with the continuation of investigative processes, since since December 2015 criminal proceedings have been opened to investigate the deportation as an act of genocide.

In addition, due to the increase in detentions and arrests of people in the case of the Noman Çelebicihan Crimean Tatar Volunteer Battalion, the experts discussed how to provide legal assistance for a possible exchange.
